Summary
Pasiphae stood on the soft grasses of Crete, newborn son cradled in her arms.
The boy was a strange thing—an unholy fusion of man and beast, with the head and legs of a bull and the body of a man. He was a monster born through the violation of the natural order.
Yet, as Pasiphae gazed down upon him she saw only an innocent child, eyes wide in wonder as he looked up at the skies, stars reflected in their watery depths. He had not the sharp horns of a bull but the soft fur of a calf taking its first steps.
She saw him, and she loved him.
