Hak sat up, gasping. His heart was beating out of his chest and andrenaline poured through his veins. Still shaking, he tried to see where the princess was, but his vision was blurry. His eyes were wet. Slowly, almost comically so, Hak realised he was crying. His panic and confusion mixed together sickeningly- he hardly ever cried, and he'd never felt like this before. Was he having a heart attack? Is this how he'd die, sat in a forest without a single enemy nearby?

A head peeks out, and blue eyes stare at him.
“Who are you?” a child demands, with Merlin’s familiar eyes and a mop of dark hair falling over his forehead, and two ears sticking out from his face. “How d’you know my name? Are you a knight?”
“Oh, no,” Arthur says, in what he thinks is a very apt assessment of the situation.

In the aftermath of Merlin's battle against Nimueh, the rain seems a minor complication, perhaps even a cleansing influence. When the rain doesn't stop, Camelot is pushed to the brink once more. This time, Arthur may be in over his head. Contains: a lot of wet boys in emotional scenes, Arthur knowing more than he lets on, Merlin being an idiot, both of them being a bit stupidly heroic, telepathic chess, rain (lots of), war, making out against a tree, coincidental druids, co-opted history, co-opted myths, magic, coming of age (metaphorically), and more magically annoying yet surprisingly un-floody water than you can shake a stick at.
