Summary
An unusual estate case finally gives Dimitri the opportunity to learn more about his parents' mysterious deaths. At the crumbling Garreg Mach mansion, he is welcomed with open arms—perhaps a little too eagerly—by the home's few remaining residents, and he finds himself fascinated by the beautiful but erratic lady of the house, Byleth Eisner. But soon, the odd behavior of his hosts and his dreams of another time reveal that the mysteries of Garreg Mach go much deeper than he could have imagined.

The prince attempted a risky lunge, leaving his right side completely exposed. Jeralt knew immediately what was about to happen but was powerless to stop it. Rather than block the blow, Byleth stepped inside Dimitri’s reach once he’d passed the point where he might have stopped his momentum.
And then, just as her father had taught her, she punched the future king of Faerghus square in the face. Dimitri staggered backwards a step, where Byleth’s leg waited to trip him. His back hit the dirt hard.
Back at the monastery he'd tried so hard to avoid, Jeralt has feelings about the life he forced his daughter into.

“Are you nervous?”
A beat. “No. But I am looking forward to it.” Then Dimitri blinks, looks down at his arm. “Oh. Your hand.”
Byleth follows his gaze. When did her hand land on the crook of his arm, settling there like it belongs nowhere else? She looks back up at him, and when her eyes meet his, something is there.
[Months after the war, Dimitri and Byleth are invited to a wedding for none other than Sylvain and Felix. During their days' long journey to the destination with only each other for company, their repressed feelings and desires are forced to the light.]
