Summary
Love is a constant terror of loss, Obi-Wan instructs Anakin, once.
He's twenty-seven when he says this. He’s had vague nightmares of war but no real knowledge of it. He hasn’t yet taken charge of a quarter of a million lives, hasn’t locked eyes with Cody and heard him say General, say Obi-Wan. At that moment he has no idea what it’s like to love the way his padawan loves, greedily, with grasping hands, desperate to see the depth of his hunger reflected back at him. He has loved, Qui-Gon and Siri and Quinlan and Bant, but these have all been loves that he was able to make himself ignore.
He has no idea, yet, what it’s like to feel love that he cannot ignore.

Summary
The Force is in all things. It moves through and within everything, binding the universe together. It directs the flow of the galaxy, from the paths of individuals all the way to the paths of planets and stars. It is, some say, life itself.
And it is quiet.
Obi-Wan can barely hear it, these days. The war has been difficult on all of them, and it is no wonder he finds it more difficult to reach for the Light in a time of so much darkness.
One thing Obi-Wan has forgotten about the Force: it is strong, and it is willful. It will happily help those who can call upon it, but it does not take kindly to orders. Particularly not from those who seek to keep it muffled and hidden away.
Or: The Force decides the war is stupid and does something about it.
