In the months after Jason’s death, Dick would tell anyone and everyone about it. His teammates, shop clerks, the local priest, the sweet old lady who used to feed pigeons in front of the WE building, diplomats from far away planets, baristas. “He was murdered,” he would say, his voice casual, watching the faces freeze in shock, or awkwardness, or both, and feeling a strange sense of satisfaction. For a brief moment, the world would pause and consider the wrongness of it all. Sometimes, he could even make it last longer. “Twenty one broken bones,” he would add conversationally. “Do you want to see a picture? No, I mean from before– This is Christmas.”
dick wants confirmation that jason is alive. thankfully, he is used to keeping a shovel in his car’s trunk. when a murder spree case loosely tied to one east end clinic brings them to meet, it makes the difference.

Summary
The Kingmaker died a warrior's death at the Butcher's Ball.
After an ambush in the Riverlands leaves the remnants of the Harrenhal march almost entirely wiped out. Gwayne Hightower awakens half-dead to find himself alone save for the grey and lifeless body of the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Criston Cole has spent months marching them towards certain death, chasing the Stranger. By all rights, Gwayne should leave him to the scavengers. Yet he can't let go.
Instead, he commits a reckless act, risking his own body to save Criston's life. While a severe head trauma has left Cole with his face wounded and his memory gone.
