Summary
Olethra was right when she said the Amphemereon was abandoned. The halls of the Corrodi are coated in a film of dust, disturbed only by the footprints of the crew of the Zephyr, but he feels uncomfortable regardless. His iron heart is only exacerbating the issue, the contempt he holds for the Corrodi strengthening that pit of fear forming at the back of his chest, the grief as he remembers the destruction of his comrades. How many of their parts were used in this place’s construction? Does he stand, even now, on the corpses of his brethren?

Summary
Kipperlilly reaches down and grabs the hand that is not currently engaged in playing with her Quokki Pet and drags her upwards. Mary Ann scrambles to put her stuff together, just barely getting a grip on her axe before Kipperlilly is dragging her across the courtyard toward a group of freshmen sitting at a picnic table. Tubbo is reminded of Tommy’s first radio, the one they crowded around during the first war. Him, Tommy, and Fundy sat on a cot listening to Fred Astaire, turned down low enough that Eret wouldn’t overhear the three of them tangled up with an ear to the box, listening. Music was Tommy’s first love, so it became Tubbo’s, too.

There is no time for thinking about Niki - Fundy - Tommy - Techno - there is no time to think about anything but the adrenaline in his blood, the burning organ in his chest, the war, the war, the true climax on the pyramid that edges closer with each damning second.
Whatever happens, it’s what he wanted. Whatever happens, Wilbur will get what he always had coming.
Things are going to change. Wilbur, just Wilbur, straightens his back and smiles so wide it hurts.
Things are going to change. He’ll be happy when it’s all finally over.

“Alex?” Tubbo asks, a sudden, heart-stopping tremble to his voice. He sounds, frighteningly, his age. “You can drive, can you not?”
“I can,” Alex responds. Tubbo is watching the painting like he’s waiting for it to move—for Ivan to leap out of the oil and bash his head in as well.
“Will you take me to church?”
Alex, despite his Catholic upbringing, has not been to church in a very long time. And he’s never heard Tubbo himself speak of religion with anything but scorn. In his time around so many veterans, Alex had eventually figured war made zealots or atheists of men, and nothing in between.
“Yes,” he says anyway, “of course.”

“Some animal is gonna choke on that,” Tubbo remarks, but it’s dispassionate. His mind is so cluttered, and these nights so peaceful, that he can’t really bring himself to care all that much. “You’re gonna give the squirrels a nicotine habit.”
“I’d train them to fetch my packs for me. Then you’d be out of a job.”
