Lars wakes up at 5 am, just on schedule, and quietly looks around him.
If you had told him 4 years ago that he would, someday, have 3 other people in his life who would mean the world to him, he wouldn't believe you.

"Can't think… Too hot…" Phainon shuts his eyes and tries to steady his breathing, thinking it might help with the heat. Mydei remains unmoving.
"I'm shocked you can even talk with this much heat and humidity. Well done, deliverer."
"Get off my case, Mydeimos." He chuckles, chest moving in tandem with his laughs. Mydei feels a slight upturn of his lips before settling it back to its resting state. "I bet you can't last longer than I can in this heat anyways."
Phainon brings half his body up as he turns, resting his weight on his elbows, facing up and directly at his friend. "Look at you sitting like this isn't affecting you too." A hand playfully swipes at sweat dripping down his roommate's thighs. "As if you aren't also burning under this weather."
a.k.a Phainon and Mydei trying to survive a heat wave but they get a bit too close to one another

“Adrian will understand,” Rocky says confidently. “Will be excited to meet alien. Will be excited to meet person who brought me home.”
“Yeah, and I'm excited to meet them too, but after that!” Is this a translation error? A cultural miscommunication? How is Rocky not getting it? “You're partners. They're not going to want some alien around while you're, like… going on dates and all that.”
“Does not mean no time for Grace.” Rocky’s starting to sound frustrated. Part of me feels bad, but the rest is just as frustrated. “Why think this, question? On Earth, just abandon friends when have mate, question?”
It's so clearly a rhetorical question, to which the answer is obviously supposed to be no, of course not. I freeze up anyway.

Same author as The Astrobiology Immersion Program (bodyswap PHM fic). Absolutely wonderful characterization. Entertaining storyline. Heartwarming and made me tear up near the end. Do recommend.

Really nice. I love seeing how they care for each other and get used to each other being around, like how Grace knew talking and explaining would help calm Rocky down. Beautiful. The shared understanding over the suit too. I hope they hug more.

This was so, SO, good. I kid you not. I could re-read this numerous times.
Phainon's extreme determination and obsession with finding someone of equal or better strength to spar with him is what drives him in this story, and it leads him to so many places.
Fret not, the title WILL make sense by the end. And it is definitely worth it to read to understand why. I laughed.
Wonderful fic. Good worldbuilding. Good characters. Amusing side characters as well. The guards are my favourite, followed by the kids.
