During the shortened break from Nevermore Xavier Thorpe is left to his own devices, and alone has to come to terms with the actual state of his mental health. He doesn't care that sleeping too much can be just as damaging as not sleeping at all he can't keep dealing with these nightmares and the pills help him sleep. No one is going to notice anyways and maybe he can stop being haunted over the last dream he had. One that had a land unfamiliar to anything he had ever seen before with a sky of emerald and waves that looked like liquid amethyst. The place called out to him as did two voices begging him to return home.
Wednesday is oblivious to others pain in general but even she is noticing how pale and listless Xavier is looking. Could she be concerned? Perish the thought she's merely just curious.
Or so she tells herself.

“I’m going to move on from you.”
“Yes, yes, I believe you.” Alastor hummed, thinking back on the supper at the hotel. Vox was nothing if not a liar; he truly didn’t understand whatever nonsense he was going on about. Or where Vox would be ‘moving on’ to, perhaps he’d build another eyesore of a tower.
“I mean it, Al.” Vox’s hands were now crossed against his chest.
Alastor mindlessly flickered his talons against the objects on Vox’s desk. “I’m sure, sweetheart.”
Or, the one where Vox decides to move on from the radio demon. Alastor doesn’t seem to understand the implications.

Takes place after season 2, Vox gets his body back but he’s not the same.
His ego is destroyed, his power has grown weak, so much has happened and now he’s a bum, but the main thing is… he’s done chasing Alastor, after all these years, he finally decides it’s time to move on and continue on with his life.
Alastor notices this… and… he doesn’t quite seem to like it.. why?

After the events of season two, Vox is ready to move on and forget all of that ever happened, content to lick his wounds and hide away. He's done with Alastor. This was the last straw, and he's tired of losing.
Of course, this doesn't sit well with Alastor. The sudden withdrawal of his closest enemy has made him realise just how much he actually cares for said enemy after all and now he must, in a strange role reversal, chase after him and try to get Vox to look his way. Easier said than done, and he might be too late.
He's still going to try.

Charlie took a deep breath. “We believe Vox committed suicide. The Vees have given their statement. They say he became increasingly unstable during his campaign and snapped after Alastor tricked him into breaking their deal. The suicide was not premeditated, but impulsive.”
Alastor tried to force himself to move, but the electric signals firing in his brain weren’t reaching his limbs. He wanted to scream, but the air was trapped in his chest. Every cell in his body was dying, the blood stagnating under his skin, unshed, unwept. He turned the words over in his head. Suicide. Dead. Vox is dead. Vox committed suicide. Dead, dead, dead. Vox is dead? Dead. Suicide. He killed himself. He’s gone. Dead. None of it stuck long enough to process. The moment the thought entered his mind it flitted away like a bird, clean and transparent and intangible, little ghosts sliding through his fingers.

Or, an alternate ending to S2 where everything is the same except Vox dies before Valentino can rip his head off. Alastor is left alone to deal with the aftermath and confront what Vox actually meant to him, and why his loss is so devastating.
