The joint mission between the Armed Detective Agency and the Port Mafia required a pair to go undercover as a married couple. And, to no one’s surprise, Dazai and Chuuya were chosen for the role. After all, they were experienced at maintaining cover identities, familiar with each other’s habits, and had been working together for years.
“We need your cover to be airtight, so everything has to be as realistic as possible. We can't risk alerting the enemy,” Kunikida explained apologetically. "First and foremost, we'll need a marriage certificate—”
“We already have one," Dazai interrupted.
(or, the ADA and the Port Mafia discover that Dazai and Chuuya are married. If only it were that simple.
Scratch that, everyone wishes it were that simple.)
