The thing about Sydney is that they've spent most of their waking hours together for the last year and a half; she's deeply embedded in his family, more so than lifelong family friends. He'd trust her with his life, and do anything to protect hers. Still, he feels like he knows nothing about her.
He tries to make out what he can. Especially now she’s getting a little more open with him. Last week, she told him about her cousin and her daughter, which he really enjoyed. Her cousin's daughter, not Sydney's daughter. She's an enigma, but he doesn't think she has a secret child waiting at home.
Although, now his mind wanders. He knows she has a somewhat large family like his, does she want one of her own? Judging by the way she tenses up in the presence of Sophie, maybe not. But he's seen her with Eva, so maybe yes?
He doesn't even realise all this is really happening in his brain until his mouth opens subconsciously, asking Stevie to drop him off at the restaurant.
“Are you sure, Carm? You don't have to do that anymore.”
“Yeah, I just. Want to check in on some stuff.” Someone.
