Layla swallows. “Yeah,” she says. “Yeah, I just, um. I threw up earlier, but I don’t really feel sick, and then I realized that I missed my last two periods, and IthinkImightbepregnant.” The last bit comes out in a breathless rush, her words all jumbled together, and she can almost hear Jordan’s silent shock on the other side of the line.
“Uh,” he says after a moment. “Wait. Did I hear you wrong, or did you say that you might be-”
“Pregnant?” She cuts him off. “Maybe. Possibly. I don’t know yet, and I’m kind of freaking out.”
Post Season 6. Layla and Jordan get a little surprise.

Summary
While everyone else watches the rest of the play, cheering on the receiver as he sprints into the end zone, Layla's eyes are glued to where Jordan lies on the turf.
One, two, three seconds go by, and he’s still not getting up.
Her heart has sunk to the depths of her stomach. She feels like she’s going to faint, or throw up, or both.
Layla and Jordan, in the wake of his career-halting concussion.

She shakes her head and looks up at him, her eyes wide with love and want and anticipation. “I’m not tired at all.”
He grins, one of those signature Jordan Baker grins that make her knees weak.
“Okay,” he says softly, eyebrows scrunching adorably as he nods. “Me neither.”
A look at Jordan and Layla, post-wedding.

Summary
Rupert loved her best on the days when only their little family was at Penscombe Court, Marcus down from the city and Tabitha on a weekend from uni, their little girls wreaking havoc in the gardens while Taggie baked and Rupert pretended to not be on the brink of humiliating, incredulous tears that this had become his life.
Or, almost fifteen years into their marriage, Rupert is a little introspective and a lot in love with his wife.

Summary
She likes the sound of it. Husband. That they’ve chosen each other. That she belongs at Penscombe in a shirt that’s too big with a steaming cup of coffee he’s made just how she likes it-- two sugars, a pile of whipped cream. That he pulls her into his lap with his reading glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, a crease in his brow as he reads constituent letters aloud, asking her opinion, listening carefully when she gives it.
And it’s not running away, even if it feels like it. Even if they left the Priory cloaked in darkness. Skipping the creaking stair, trailing her fingers across the worn oak banister, knowing she’ll be back but it won’t be the same.
or, the secret marriage fic.

Summary
Here's the thing: Mike didn't always believe. Not all the time, not every day.
When he awoke at the hospital, hooked to a host of chirping machines, there was a nurse at his bedside. She said that he had suffered complications from severe shock and his heart had stopped for two and a half minutes. If his sister hadn't performed textbook-perfect CPR on him at the scene, he'd probably be dead.
Mike closed his eyes. His last thought before drifting into unconsciousness again had been: You should have let me go with her, Nancy.
