After an irreversible mistake Hank Olson doesn’t think he can go on. He finds himself wandering the desolate roads of Maine hours later, wondering how long he can drag his feet before something comes to finish him off.

Pete has slept light for as long as he can remember. He’d always needed to when he was out on the road, and had learned to keep his night terrors under wraps when he still lived at his uncle's.
Most nights, Ray can sleep through almost anything. He can sleep through Pete's nightmares now, and back then, he could sleep through pouring rain, through the echoes of bullets shot through the brains of the guys whose names Pete never bothered to learn because all he cared about was Ray, keeping Ray safe, keeping Ray alive.

Ray arched an eyebrow at him, but his eyes lit up with interest. “Tell me about it.”
“I'd rather show you,” Pete laughed softly. He pulled back to sit back on his heels. He looked over at Ray, and his soft, gorgeous body laid out on the bed, looking like a whole feast. And Pete was absolutely intent on devouring him.
