“What are you thinking?” I prod.
“I’m thinking that I’ve never kissed anyone. I don’t even know how.” Percy leans forward in his chair, studying me. I realize how much I hate my dress and how hard it is to breathe in.
Fighting through the lung constriction, I say, “It’s pretty easy. You’ll figure it out when the time comes.” Luke had promised me the same thing. “Anyway, it’s getting late, and I know you’ve had a long day.” I rise from the sofa and offer Percy a hand getting up, which he graciously accepts. Once standing, he doesn’t drop my hand but instead pulls it to his lips for a kiss.
“Annabeth.” His eyes sweep over me. “I’ve never had such a beautiful friend before.”
OR
Intent on securing her own funding for architecture school, Annabeth enters the Selection to compete against 34 other girls for the heart of Prince Percy. She has no intention to win, but when she meets the prince and an unlikely friendship blossoms between them, Annabeth's plans start to change.

“Everywhere?”
“Everywhere. I’ve been looking for her all day. We need to do something.”
Do what?, Percy asks himself as he says it out loud. What are you supposed to do when a person just disappears? Put in a report with the police? It's unlikely they’ll do anything about it. If Annabeth is missing, it probably has something to do with the gods.
“Someone took her,” he says to no one in particular. The realization sinks his heart all the way down to his feet.
