Then Sieun let off the guys who parked their bikes in the wrong spot, as long as they wheeled it to the school bike racks. A girl with unnaturally bright blonde hair was told off with a mere warning to change it back by the end of the week. Another guy wearing the completely wrong pants – it was gray, and shining weirdly in the sun – was let through after a quick conversation.
There was absolutely no fucking way those infringements were less punishable than Suho, who literally just forgot to tag on his name badge for a day.
Damn. Was Suho that fucking special?

when met with the typical silence, suho had angled his chubby cheek nonetheless, determined and forthcoming. “kiss.”
it’s their little ritual that’s stayed well into adulthood, a precious thing that’s theirs, and theirs alone.

For a fraction of a second, Spider-Man paused. But he didn’t falter.
“You were wearing your uniform that day at the traffic light. Had your nametag on it.”
A slight tilt of his head.
“Yeon Sieun,” he dragged out the words. “Hey, it’s a pretty name for a pretty guy.”
Sieun’s face went completely blank. He turned away without a word and started walking.
Spider-Man gave a startled laugh. “Okay, okay—I’m sorry,” he called after him. “No more pick-up lines. I’ll behave.”
Sieun huffed under his breath. But he did stop.
Because of that familiar laugh.

“God, what happened to you, Ahn Suho? You used to tease me for being boring.”
A shadow crossed Suho’s face as he sank to his knees before Sieun. When he reached out, Sieun’s breath hitched as warm hands cupped his face. With darkness cloaking them, every tiny sensation sharpened. He hoped Suho couldn’t hear his heart racing.
“Suho-yah?” Sieun whispered. He couldn’t help but lean into it, exhaling softly when Suho’s thumb brushed his cheek.
“I made a promise the day we met,” Suho murmured. “Wherever you are, Yeon Sieun, I’ll always be there for you.”
Years later, he would discover that his father had assigned Suho, Baku, and Hyuntak to be his personal bodyguards. And this revelation would be one of the key reasons any lingering hope of reconciliation between Sieun and his parents was shattered.
It was one thing for them to neglect him in pursuit of their careers. It was something else entirely to decide that the solution to keeping him safe was trapping his closest friends into lifelong service.
