It starts like this:
Sunlit afternoons spent holed up in Ramy's flat, sitting thigh to thigh on his far too nice velvet couch. Victoire splayed in the arm chair across them, laptop perched on her folded legs as she works on her most recent paper. Ramy's humming as he types away on his own laptop, or as he watches Robin type on his— wasting more time on the couch either way. Hours filled with laughter and jabs as they all take turns reciting their favorite poems, bored of words that have lost all meaning on their screens.
Quiet evenings spent carefully untangling themselves in their shared space, Victoire almost always leaving first because her bloody dorm is too far to justify leaving any later. Quiet evenings spent retangling themselves together once Victoire left, unbeknownst to themselves until they're intertwined beyond saving. And maybe, just maybe, if he's lucky: Ramy will lean in just a bit too close—
—and that ugly, raw, real feeling will blossom in Robin's chest for it.

Though after one night, after retiring back to his dorm just a building over, there's a particular tickle at the back of his throat.

Their eyes met, and something hung heavy in the air. Ramy spoke again, his voice tender and oh-so vulnerable. “Robin, are you going to give one to the girls too?”
He opened his mouth to speak but thought better of it. It seemed the logical thing to do, to give one to the girls as a token of friendship, but as Ramy’s gaze burned his skin, he got the impression that this was not the answer that Ramy wanted.
“No. No, I’m not.”
