Summary
"Through adversity to the stars"
He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is gaining power in Britain, and all of Wizarding Europe fears for its safety. Jean Valjean flees Montreuil-sur-Mer after the fateful trial at Arras, and is re-arrested by the respected (and feared) Auror, Javert. It is on their way to the Palais de Justice that they are attacked by a group of Death Eaters, and become embroiled in a conflict that is bigger than both of them.

7/10. Beautifully written, and positively plotful. A combination of two worlds that are very nostalgic for me (though it's been a long time since I've allowed myself to enjoy anything Harry Potter-related—fortunately, she-who-must-not-be-named does not benefit from my reading this). I especially love the way the author weaves lore from each story together in a way that feels seamless. Marvelously done!
My only criticism is a petty matter of personal preference—I just prefer a little more toxicity LMAO

Summary
When a mysterious blue box brought two strangers into Montreuil-sur-Mer, Inspector Javert was the first to investigate. Mayor Madeleine was the first to play host. Neither expected to become entangled in the mystery of disappearing New New Yorkers five billion years into the future, a case that required Madeleine and Javert to set aside their differences and learn to trust each other.
Set in 1820, Madeleine's first year as Mayor. Javert had newly arrived as Montreuil-sur-Mer's inspector. Also set post-The Name of the Doctor, an adventure after the Doctor and Clara's first visit to Tranzalore.

7/10. SO CUTE! This story was very nostalgic for me. And what a wonderful concept! Had the energy (and absurdity, cheesiness, and background) of a true Doctor Who episode.
It didn't have me in a chokehold like some of the other fics in this collection—it's a little more lighthearted. But I consistently enjoyed this story and recommend it to any Les Mis & Doctor Who fans.

7/10 but worthy of a higher rating. Let me explain myself:
This piece is exceptionally well-written, in-character, thoroughly researched, has a developed plot & satisfying conclusion. As far as story goes, it's a 10/10, but my rating is based on personal preference and it just didn't have that spark for me. I liked it, and felt it was Good, but I wasn't obsessed.
That said, this is an excellent redemption piece for Javert. He embarks on a new career path and learns to apply his talents in the pursuit of what is good. And though the story is exclusively from his perspective, Valjean himself is no mystery—he is a saint, but he is also a man.
I have mixed feelings about the Catholicism of it all. It made sense, it was interesting, and it was even beautiful—it was just a little heavy-handed for my tastes.
I also would have liked to see Javert in more Situations. He was put in mortal peril, yes, but that is within his wheelhouse. What of awkward dinners at the Gillenormand estate? Such quotidian affairs put him completely out of his element, and I love them for exposing how ridiculous he is. These are an indulgence, perhaps, but I know what I like.
