    Summary

Peter's freaking out about his class's upcoming field trip to Stark Industries because Flash has convinced half the class (or possibly more) that Peter's been lying about being an SI intern. And the worst part is that there's nothing Peter can do to change that.

Soon everyone's going to think he's a liar, and it's ruining his life!

    Bookmarker's Notes

Contains the funniest and most accurate email chain I've ever read in a fic:

    From: Tony Stark

    To: Research & Development Supervisors

    ; Internship Supervisors

    Cc: Pepper Potts

    Subject: URGENT - Internship Update
    Attachment: Intern_Peter_Parker_031417.jpg

Listen up, folks. This is a picture of Peter Parker. He is an intern. He’s a chief intern. He’s an engineering and biochemical research intern. He’s also kind of my personal assistant. If you don’t see him in the labs, it's because he’s too smart to be working in the general level and research labs. Kid’s a genius.

But if you do see him while he’s interning, if you see him walking into a lab, if you see him grabbing a coffee, if you see him running down the halls with a fire extinguisher, don’t panic. He’s supposed to be here. Anywhere you see him in SI, that’s where he’s supposed to be. Because he’s my intern. I probably told him to go into that lab, or the coffee he’s grabbing is for me, or he really needs that fire extinguisher because he didn’t listen to me when I told him not to put that very flammable chemical within the reach of U’s arm and now the lab is on fire.

Point is, if anyone sees this kid running around, don’t bother him, he’s doing something important. Some important thing I told him to do. If anyone asks about him, you let them know not to worry about him, because he works for me, and if anyone questions that they can call me direct and I’ll tell them to their face, because that kid is my intern.

Let your staff know, too. Post his picture somewhere the staff will see it, so they can familiarize themselves with what my intern looks like, so they won’t freak out if they see him wandering around.

I’m sure you have questions: Since when did I have my own intern? How long has he been working for me? Why did I hire a teenager when SI’s rules indicate that interns can’t apply until they get accepted into a university?

    He is an Intern.

    Tony.

Stop sending cryptic emails to my employees. This was the weirdest way to do what you did. You will be explaining to me your thought process over dinner tonight.

    Summary

When Peter's Teacher announces that his Graduating Class's Senior Trip is going to be to Stark Industries, the place where Peter has an internship, and where he spends so much of his free time, he is... less than enthused. No one believes his Internship is real and frankly, he just doesn't want to deal with it, but between May and Mr. Stark, he doesn't really think he's going to get much of a choice.
He's going to have to go
At least Ned is excited about it.
And hey, he has a month till the actual day, maybe he'll fall into a pit or get carried away by a stork-themed villain or fall into a Coma or something before the dreaded Field Trip

“Nice to meet you,” Peter said, “I’m, uh, Spiderman.”

“War Machine,” Rhodey said. “You can call me Colonel, or Rhodes, or Colonel Rhodes.”

“Yo, that’s harsh,” Sam said, turning to Rhodey. “He’s a good dude. Tried to help unbury me last week.”

It had actually been more like a week and a half ago, but Peter wasn’t about to quibble about dates.

Rhodey’s expression stayed set. “I’m sure he is, but forgive me if I’d like to get to know him a little better for extending to him the courtesy of using my first name.”

Peter got it. Kind of. He did, he understood, just, you know, ouch.

“Right,” Peter said, “I mean, you just met me. That’s ok. There will be time to get to know each other.”

Rhodey gestured to Peter, as if to say, exactly.

“And I want to respect that,” Peter said, “so I’ll take that step back too. Colonel Rhodes, feel free to just call me Mr. Man.”

    Summary

“That was a disaster. The press is having a field day.”
“It wasn’t my fault,” Tony defends. “That Spider-Guy never knows when to shut up. He distracted me.”
“Your reputation took a blow,” Pepper tells him. “Which will be fixed, of course. I’ve already set it up.”
“Set what up? What, am I going to make flower arrangements with the elderly?”
Pepper slides a piece of paper towards him. “Try an orphan. His name is Peter Parker. His biggest dream is to meet you. But…” She hesitates.
    “But?”
“Apparently he doesn’t talk much. Sometimes not at all. Trauma-related.”
“A smart kid who doesn’t talk? Perfect combination. If only all my employees were like that.”

    Bookmarker's Notes

    Really beautiful and well-written fic.

“I think it’s awesome. I’m honored to be part of this little list,” Tony says, his eyes scanning all three pictures.

“Yeah,” Peter says. “Don’t die, okay?”

“Do you want me to stop being Iron-Man?” Tony asks, dead serious, and in that moment, he is certain that if Peter says ‘yes’, he will follow through, hang up his suit and that’ll be it. He will just be a dad.
