Frank’s eyes snap up, a different, sharper curiosity replacing some of his still-present anger. “So you’re getting off to this, huh.”

Frank looks down again, sliding his hand over his mouth and shaking his head. “No.” It comes out as a whisper, then he clears his throat. “No. It’s not.” Silence, for a while, as the man thinks. “I fucked up. After Staten Island… You opened up to me, and I messed it all up. Which is par for the course.” A humorless laugh. “…And I’m sorry for that, too, kid.”
