The only outcomes he had prepared himself for were victory or death. This murky limbo he finds himself in was never supposed to happen.

The touch of their skin on his has not left, but he imagines them in silent conversation across his body: eyes open and scheming, the drill safe in Alex’s hand and his heart safe in Juliet’s mouth.

Summary
“Have you killed him yet?” she asked, conversationally. She stood so close to him. Even despite the smoke and the wind and the river, he could still smell the barest hints of her perfume, cinnamon and leather, acrid gunpowder. Desire warred with fear and hate and jealousy. The insides of Andrey’s heart were a battlefield littered with carnage.

Nothing matters except for this, the invincibility that seizes them both, impossibly alive in their little corner of the world.

Summary
The Eleventh of the Fatui Harbingers stood with a knife in hand and a small, self-satisfied smile on his face. It was a familiar sight, but one made strange by the circumstances; he stood in a bright, clean kitchen, and he was wearing an apron.
How to keep the wolf from the door, or five times Childe fed him and one time Scaramouche returned the favour.

Summary
“Oh spirits,” Azula says, grinning widely. The Water Tribe is full of idiots. “You don’t want to marry Zuko, he’s useless. Also, he’s already engaged.”
“He is?” Yue blinks at her.
“Of course he is, he’s going to be the Fire Lord, he’s been engaged since he was twelve,” Azula says. A useless Fire Lord who she’s going to have to prop up, if not outright usurp, but Fire Lord all the same.
The things she does for this family, she swears.

Summary
All Zuko had been trying to do was wash some dishes. Or: The one where Zuko and Katara both mean well, but still can't find their footing around each other in time to prevent explosive shouting, broken dishes, an impromptu arrest, and Team Avatar's third- nay, fourth jailbreak. Fifth? They've lost count at this point, but at least they're not willing to lose Zuko... now, if only he realized that.

Summary
The wanderer raises a shaking hand to point in the general direction of the dusty manor deep within the mountain in which he awoke, nameless and alone.
The officer does not turn to look but furrows his brow. “And what is your purpose here?”
The wanderer tightens his hands into fists on his lap. “I am a wanderer,” he says, “with no destination.”
———
“The long-wandering eccentric no longer thinks about this, but when he closes his eyes, he can still see the moonlit nights over Tatarasuna and the burning furnace flames.”
———
Chapter 4:
The wanderer jerks back around, wincing at the strain on his wound. He recognizes Mikoshi’s voice. A lantern is brought forth from the darkness ahead before the one carrying it appears. Violet shadows splash across the inspector’s face like physical manifestations of the Tatarigami. The wanderer draws back on instinct. His ropes, red as his own blood, hold him firm.
Two other men emerge from behind Mikoshi. The wanderer recognizes them by face but not by name—two steelworkers he’s seen many times at the forge. All three reek of Tatarigami.
