Sometimes he wants to dash down the stairs in the middle of the night and curl up beside his mummy in bed and sometimes he wants to follow Bill to Egypt and Charlie to Romania and Percy to one floor up from dad at the ministry and the twins to a flat in Diagon Alley. And he wants to run away. But tonight, it’s his seventeenth birthday and he’s lying in a hospital bed, poison withdrawing from his system at a school where his parents haven’t come to check on their boy, their youngest son, who is just of age, sure, but a child nonetheless, who has been poisoned twice tonight. Tonight, all he wants is mum.

Without warning, Luke wrapped a hand around Jason’s neck and squeezed gently. Jason’s vision went blurry as his air supply was toyed with, his entire body sparkling with heat. His other hand brushed aside Jason’s shirt, revealing his scent gland on the crook of his neck. His fingers brushed against the sensitive skin, causing Jason to shudder with pleasure against his own will.
“He’s an Omega,” Percy said, breathless with fascination, his eyes undeniably hungry as they traced over Jason.
