Summary
Porsche has always tried to shield Chay from the troubles of their lives. Has always made sure that Chay had food, and had new enough clothes when he needed them. He made sure that Chay was about to go to one of the best high schools in the city, although on an academic scholarship. But he could only shield him from so much. Chay noticed how Porsche barely passed high school and barely went to the community college because he was working multiple jobs to pay for the house and put food on the table. He noticed how Porsche would claim to not be hungry when they didn’t have enough food so Chay wouldn’t go hungry. He noticed when Porsche came home at three in the morning covered in cuts in bruises and a suspicious crumpled wad of cash in his pocket. And he certainly noticed the debt collectors practically breaking down the door late at night and messing up the house.
Or
Chay is so done with Porsche acting like he can't handle things or help and takes matters into his own hands.

Pete swallows painfully, when his hand twitches, waiting for the rattling sound of chains but there is only silence. He doesn’t know if he’s relieved or disappointed.
To be honest, he isn’t holding a grudge against Vegas for catching and torturing him; it was something that the main family would do as well to someone who would try to infiltrate them. That’s how this business works, there is no place for traitors and moles. Pete knew what he was getting into when he went to find evidence against Vegas. He knew that he could be imprisoned, tortured and killed, fuck, he knew exactly what Vegas was capable of and he still went.
But he hates Vegas for making him like it. It’s all his fault. He did something to Pete to make him like it so much. He shouldn’t have enjoyed it. It was wrong.

Summary
A year after their break up, Chay discovers a gift he forgot he bought for Kim when they were dating. He decides to give it to him at New Years and finish moving on from his heartbreak. Except, he quickly learns from Kim's brothers that Kim will not be at the family New Years party and hasn't been invited in six years. Sensing something isn't right, Chay goes to see Kim for the first time since they broke up and discovers Kim might not be the person everyone believes he is.
