“So, Merlin,” Arthur says, and leans forward. Despite having climbed a tower that’s taller than the Big Ben, he doesn’t have a lock of hair out of place. Merlin despises him for that, a little bit. “What are you currently doing in a tower that seems to have no entrance and does have a large dragon on top, which really, that doesn’t help with being perceived as a princess, you’re aware?”
“How did you get past Kilgharrah?” Merlin wonders.
“Dragons sleep too, Merlin.”
Or: Merlin has stuck himself in a tower in a desperate attempt to make himself focus on his dissertation. A lot of knights seem to be under the impression that this makes him a princess in need of rescue, but fail to climb all the way up—that is, until Arthur.

Summary
After a sexual scandal of significant proportions, Prince Arthur is compelled to go on best behaviour mode to appease both his father and the press. A visit to a humanitarian-aid organisation camp seems like the perfect measure to divert attention from Arthur's recent past and a good way to effectively show off his caring side. At the camp, Prince Arthur meets Merlin Emrys, a committed doctor who doesn't much care about Arthur's royal aura of fame.

Summary
Merlin has frozen in place, like a prey animal trying the you can’t see me if I don’t move trick. To be fair, it’s not like he has anywhere to hide; with the covers kicked off almost all the way, there’s no way for him to cover up that wouldn’t expose even more in the process. Arthur clears his throat.
In retrospect, he’ll wish he said something cool and suave, James Bond-y, like Need a hand? In the moment, he manages to force out “Can I—please—” Merlin keeps staring, and Arthur swallows hard, takes another step forward. “Can I touch you? Please?”

They weren’t out of the woods yet, Lancelot thought as he numbly started pumping against the man’s chest; if he had water in his lungs…any at all…he’d only been in the water for a moment before Lancelot had caught him, but it had been a struggle to get to shore and Lancelot may have done something wrong, something irreversible…
Lancelot was just about to ask for a little help when Merlin’s voice, strangled and shaky, interrupted.
