Clark Kent has a pretty great thing going for him. He's the backup goalie for the Gotham Blades, the worst team in NHL history, and he's working on his journalism degree. He never has to worry about money and he's got plenty of free time to be Superman and partner with the Justice League.
It's all going really well. Until Bruce Wayne ruins everything.
“When I asked you what you wanted for your birthday, you said you wanted the Blades to,” Bruce used air quotes which shouldn't be endearing, “win an ‘effing’ game for once in your life.”
"What,” Jason barks out a laugh, “you’re gonna bribe a ref or somethin’?”
“Goodness no!” Bruce cries out dramatically clutching his hands to his chest, utterly scandalized. “What do you take me for? A criminal? Of course not, Jason. I would never! I am a good influence.”
Jason continues to glare at him, clearly waiting for something.
“I bought the team,” Bruce announces.

Summary
Then he took a deep breath and he changed. He ironed out every fold in his posture and his face until he looked like Superman again. His shoulders were broad, his gaze was confident, and his smile showed no sign of embarrassment or fear.
It’s genuinely uncomfortable to watch.
Especially since Bruce knows that change. He’s seen it in the mirror before entering parties or nightclubs. He’s always referred to it, internally, as 'putting on my better face.' The façade is his least favourite part of the day, ranking just below 'getting punched by supervillains.'
The idea that Superman is just Kal's better face, that would explain a lot.
It would also mean Bruce isn't alone.

Connor's always in control, even when he's trawling his own business' lounge for a quick fuck. They don't dare try to take the reins from him, after all.
Turns out the man who's caught his eye tonight is the only one in the whole goddamn place who doesn't know who he is.

Summary
In August of 2038, Connor faces a dilemma: either he go to therapy to work through his selective mutism, or he stands to lose his job as ASL teacher at Amanda Stern's Jericho Center of Education. She means well, although Connor himself doesn't see why he should go to therapy. He doesn't have any unresolved issues he needs to work through, he's just...not seen the need for using his voicebox since he was a child. He still doesn't, but pragmatically speaking, he cares more about keeping the one job he loves than the potential hazards of having to talk through things with a perfect stranger.
A few months down the line, it's at that same treatment center that he meets Hank Anderson, recovering alcoholic, and that chance encounter sets things in motion. Things that no one could have foreseen.
There are forces at work in the shadows, and before the year is over, Connor will find himself right at the center of it - with dire consequences.

The soirée is somewhat of an informal yearly tradition. Though this will be only its second occasion, there is already talk in the village of it happening again next year. It is to take place on the anniversary of the Unicorn exhibition in the Maritime Gallery, and will feature space suits and samples of moon rock alongside Tintin’s photographs of the moon’s surface and memorabilia from the rocket.
The maritime gallery, saloon and entrance hall will open up to guests at 7pm. Waiting staff are arranged for, invitations go out to the whole village as well as to select members of the scientific community, handpicked by the Professor. The order of champagne placed is illustrious. The canapés, they are assured, will be exquisite.
