On top of that he had a falling out with Ron and Hermione. With one last ally, he finds out that James Potter was never his father and his actual one signed a deal that bethroves him to his two school rivals, that he would have to marry on his eighteenth bithday or lose his magic. He fleeds England horrified and confused, only to find an unexpected home along with... a mother which convinces him, that he can still fix it all.
But only, if he trully wants to.~~~~~~

They’ve been anchored for several hours, so it’s time to continue their trek out of the channel and into the open ocean. Another few hours should do it. Then he’s free to go anywhere, start another life in some faraway city. Host parties, hunt freely, stock up his closet again and prowl for ostentatious art to decorate his walls. But Chiyoh, knowing him well (though not as well as some, Hannibal concedes), can sense his displeasure.
“We can go back for him. If you think it is wise,” she says quietly. “If you wish to.”--------

In the doorway, a stag with raven feathers staggers. It’s bleeding, slit open from hip to hip - but it does not fall. It rakes its hooves over the floor and lowers its antlers. Challenging Hannibal’s retreating figure.
The handle is slick and he fumbles with it, scratching against the floor. “Hannibal!”
Hannibal stops. Maybe it’s the anticipation in Will’s voice that hooks him. He was expecting despair or desperation - and instead, the dark tenor promises triumph.
Will meets his gaze, hands shaking with the effort, and drags the blade across his own throat.
