Jaemin stops in front of the door. He turns to give Donghyuck a flat look. “Don’t follow me, Lee Donghyuck.” He yanks the door open and walks through it, leaving Donghyuck alone on the rooftop.

Moments eke past in relative silence otherwise filled with the chirp of passing birds and scattered conversations of students below. The door swings shut with the quiet cough of rubber. Donghyuck watches it happen without moving, letting Jaemin get further and further away. It takes almost a full minute for him to smile.
“You know who I am,” he says to the empty air. As if responding, the grey screen in front of him fizzles and changes, a new mission presented in front of him.
[ Make Na Jaemin happy. ]
Donghyuck wakes up in a dating sim. All he has to do is save his favorite character and ensure his happy ending. Easy peasy.

They’re on the rooftop of Donghyuck’s apartment, Jaemin sitting cross-legged on the pyeongsang. Donghyuck is behind him, slathering hair bleach on Jaemin’s hair.
“It’s romantic,” Donghyuck says. Jaemin looks around. Donghyuck’s ugly red crocs clashing against the green painted floor, the plate of apple slices cut into lopsided bunnies, the YouTube video playing on Donghyuck’s phone on how to bleach hair for beginners. Steady fingers running through his hair, the quiet neighborhood lull of an early Sunday morning, Donghyuck humming off-key to a familiar melody.
Jaemin’s heart itches.

“I’m,” Renjun falters. He’s gone through this hundreds of thousands of times, and never knows what to say each time. “I’m sorry to hear that.” Apologies are meaningless in this state, especially from someone like him, someone who never learnt how to apologise. “You have some time left.”
Chenle snorts and sets his phone aside to meet Renjun in the eyes properly. They’re dark, glinting with mischief and a touch of something else he can’t quite name, shadowed by his bangs. He’s young, in his twenties. Too young. “How much, an hour? Two?”
He sounds so unimpressed, Renjun can’t help wincing. “Four.”
That gets Chenle to laugh, high-pitched with his whole body. His laugh is full of life. “Man, you’re funny.” He sinks back into his bed and pushes his hair out of his face. “Are you going to be here all four hours, then?”

The story follows our hero, Mark Lee, philosophy major by day and sword-wielding superhero by night. He would be nothing without his trusty guy-in-the-chair Jaemin Na, expert hacker by night, Mark's ex-boyfriend by day (but he doesn't like to talk about it).
As for Jeno? He's our villain.
