"Being trans?" Sonic tilted his head to the side, getting a hesitant nod from Miles. He let himself consider the question, brushing one of her tails with a hand mindlessly. "I didn't." He admitted with surprising honesty. Miles listened with rapt attention. "No one really knew me so it was easy to just, you know, be myself." He found himself gazing back out into the streets, "It was kinda lonely."
"Sonic..."
He looks back down at the fox, a cheeky grin on his face, "It was only lonely until I met a fox that changed my life forever."

He bore the burden, day after day, to think before every action as if he were playing a real-life strategy simulator.
“They would not be themselves, either, without you.” Duke finished the statement. “Your decisions are all intertwined, and you have… grown together. It’s very special.”
He had that faraway look in his optics again. Homesickness. McCrane smiled.
“Like with you and the Scotland Yard.”
Duke looked as if he’d tasted something sour.
“Not at all.” He glanced away, pocketing his canister of gasoline half-consumed. -
