Summary
Unable to heal from Camelot’s greatest loss, Merlin is haunted by nightmares—or something more sinister—of Arthur. But, despite the undeniable resemblance, it’s impossible that the Arthur in his dreams is the same one he’d held in his arms as he died.
Searching through the Mist, Merlin leaves his old life behind in search of a new destiny, which brings him to Paris, 1643. In a land of feuds and a time of revolution, among old faces as well as new, Merlin searches for meaning side by side with Arthur again. But whether he can come to terms with their differences, or accept his feelings for this new Arthur, all the while protecting him, may be a greater challenge than he signed up for.

Merlin’s magic takes him on a journey through time to Musketeer Era France, where he meets Arthur, the Captain of the King’s Red Guard. Ruthless, bloodthirsty, and emotionally closed off, Merlin seems unable to deny anything this new Arthur asks of him.

The man’s lips part. Despite the sword at his hip, he looks, for a brief moment, completely disarmed. Then he seems to catch himself. Snaps his mouth shut and turns to adjust something on one of the horse’s saddles.
“Arthur,” he says, voice gruff.
