“Some even say the ones behind Mockingbird ain’t slum-born at all— nah, they’re rich folk in disguise. Blendin’ in with the highborn crowd, movin’ like shadows.”
The young man played along, leaning in just as theatrically before pulling back with a chuckle.
“That sounds dramatic enough for a movie plot.”

Using his good hand, he shifted forward, using all his strength to put weight on one foot, and…
Nothing. He had no strength in his legs right now. He tried again, and again, and each time, they would give way, and another twinge would ripple upwards. On his last attempt, his foot slipped, almost sending him face-first into the dirt. Standing up on his own, let alone walking, was out of the question right now.
Crawling, one-armed, a great distance with very little strength? That wasn’t sensible either. No, right now, all Flowery could do was… stay put.
What a laugh. He was just as useless as a flower.
(That wasn’t right. Flowers weren’t useless… But like this, with no one to see him, what good was he?)
He sighed, feeling the exhaustion catch back up to him. Shuffling into a comfortable position as best he could, Flowery took one deep breath,and called for help.

When Flowery reawakens at the world's end, he finds his injuries too debilitating to move. Left all alone, he can only reminisce on times past, and hope that someone, anyone, will find him.
