It starts, as most things do, for completely wholesome and safe for work reasons. Shane just wants to help his boyfriend destress a little, and maybe find a few ways for Shane himself to relax a bit more.
However, as most things involving Ilya Rozanov tend to do, those wholesome and safe for work reasons quickly spiral into something hotter and darker that makes Shane shamefully hard, and that's all before he's even asked Ilya to hypnotize him into some mindless plaything. Fuck.

“Um,” Shane sighs. “It’s a curse, I guess.”
Icy dread and hot anger coalesce into a hard ball in Ilya’s chest. “What curse?”
Shane tosses his head, runs a hand through his hair. He looks out the window, because whatever is going on with him is clearly too agonizing to experience while looking directly at Ilya’s face. He crosses his arms over his chest, lurches a single step towards Ilya like he’s attached to a string pulled taut.
“Remember rookie season,” Shane says, apropos of nothing.
Ilya cuts a sharp, humorless grin. “Most of it.”
“They put you on Curse Protocol. You said it was a hazing thing. And I told you, do you remember, that I’d heard of guys—”
“Getting their dicks cursed off,” Ilya says.
“Yeah,” Shane says, eyes refusing to settle. He looks fucking hunted, like he expects to be brutally struck down in the very near future. “Well.”Shane Hollander is not the first hockey player to be the victim of a nasty playoff curse, but this one is a little different. Ilya rises to the occasion in a couple of ways.

Shane breathes in deep, a contented little sigh, and then pauses for another long time. Just slightly tensed, like he’s preparing himself for something, but Ilya doesn’t really have the chance to worry before he says, “I had…a good time tonight.”
“Mm, was good night,” Ilya murmurs. Kisses hair, kisses eyebrow. “Nice dinner, nice weather.”
“Yeah, it was nice,” Shane murmurs. He sighs, clears his throat. “Thank you for such a nice first date.”
Ilya mouths first date to himself, mind running to figure out what that could mean in this context.
Then Shane shifts and says, “I wasn’t sure what to expect when you asked me out.”
Ah.Shane decides to play a game. Ilya is exactly where he wants to be.

This is a crackfic. My canon interpretation of Edwin wouldn't be into this, but I just wanted to have some fun with the whole concept. This fic is also going to ignore the issues that'd arise from shapeshifting into someone else without their permission. So if that doesn't sound like your jam, this isn't the fic for you! It also is not going to get SUPER explicit, as going into intense detail isn't really my thing.
This fic is NOT officially part of my Ballad of Edwin and Cat continuity but their relationship is in a similar established state. I am also ignoring bits about how ghosts supposedly can't feel.
More tags will be added so please check the tag list after each update if you're concerned about any particular triggers. I won't get into any common big trigger content (like noncon) but I know some people have more niche nopes.
