Summary
The Waffle House was twenty eight miles from campus. Far enough that no one they knew would ever bother. Close enough that it felt like home.
And the staff, they loved them.
No one ever asked questions. But one night when Neil came in with a bruise blooming high on his throat and Andrew looked half wrecked from giving it, their usual server, a woman in her fifties with glittery nails and a tired smile, just said, “Y’all look like you had a good night,” and brought over a plate of cinnamon toast on the house.

Summary
One very frustrating thing that Neil does not appreciate is that he is painfully, infuriatingly attractive. Sometimes Andrew looks at Neil — when he’s perfectly haloed in the light of a window, or wiping sweat from his forehead with the back of his Exy glove, or staring at Andrew through hooded eyes — and Andrew is floored by his basest human instincts. The primal part of Andrew’s brain is like: Yes. Procreating with that one will make the species better. Let’s ignore all the logistics and head to bed.
-
Neil is stressed. Andrew helps. (It's for the good of humanity, after all.)

Summary
Andrew knows that this person is just an opposing Exy player. He knows that Neil doesn’t swing. And most importantly, he knows that jealousy is a pointless feeling.
But he's feeling a whole lot tonight. Andrew can’t place what has changed, what has warranted such explosions of shunned emotions.

Summary
Andrew isn't jealous, he isn't angry, but being apart for one month causes some self-destructive tendencies, shaped into three words he's never said before.
