Except every time Adam remembered Ronan’s murmured I love you, his heart went from quiet riot to deafening roar, thundering in his right ear and drowning out every other sound in the farmhouse that filtered through his pillow, all the rattles, knocks, and creaks that came with being two hundred years old. The down comforters they used to fight off the winter chill that settled into the Barns overnight suddenly seemed to trap too much warmth too, leaving him hot enough sweat beaded at his hairline and trickled across his temple, dampening the white cotton pillowcase under his head.
Adam could manage through both of those though, by closing his eyes and gritting his teeth and breathing slow and deep. He’d suffered through worse than a little discomfort. A discomfort that was all his fault because he couldn’t say three words to his boyfriend.
But then the itching began.

Summary
AU. Nineteen year old Peter Parker has worked for SHIELD ever since he had a run-in with Nick Fury over alien technology a couple of years ago.
When Tony Stark and Happy Hogan are injured in an attack that uses unfamiliar alien tech, Peter is assigned by Fury as their bodyguard and informant. He has one rule he tells himself on missions. Or, well, one rule with three sub-sections: get in and out, stay alert, and do not get attached. (That last sub-section holds more weight than the others — by about forty percent, give or take.)
Morgan Stark — and, apparently, the rest of the Avengers, along with people he's tried to leave behind — are making the last part of that rule very difficult for him. Oh, and it turns out that Tony Stark isn't as big of an asshole as everyone makes him out to be. Who knew?

St. Agnes was, suddenly, too big. Or Adam too small. Either way he could not find an arena in which he reasonably slot.
There wasn’t time for a meltdown. His list too full, Ronan too here. He'd been planning to meet with Blue after her shift. Had to contact Gansey, let him know he was available next Saturday. Needed to wash his gym uniform. Needed to find somewhere to wash his gym uniform. Needed someone to touch for longer than it took for nurses to draw labs he didn’t need for a bill he hadn't been able to pay. For Blue to evade holding his hand. Needed a blanket, thicker jacket, a new set of socks, new slacks to compensate last summer's growth spurt he needed…
Adam moves into St. Agnes. Ronan, being Ronan, was as helpful as he'd expect.
