Objectively, this used to be true. Nowadays Shane has many, many plans, between his nightly plans to look at Ilya’s penis through Skype and his various long-term plans laid out helpfully in his notebook, Canva (For Ilya’s sake. He is a visual learner), and more recently, Excel. Shane loves that excel sheet. He’s colour coded it.
In 2017, Shane Hollander spirals and proposes to his boyfriend of 4 days (or 7 years, or 9 years, or not his boyfriend at all, depending on how you look at it), which leads to a lot of plans, weird theories in the Montreal Voyageur locker room, some Twitter drama, and Ilya Rozanov entering his WAG era.

“Oh, c’mon! You don’t need a date night with Ilya. Without kids, every night can be date night. Jackie and I have been planning this outing for 3 weeks. I just forgot to call the babysitter until today, and now she is busy,” Hayden had that tone again. The one he used whenever talking about Ilya and Shane’s relationship. “Can’t you skip date night or move it to Montreal and take the kids with you?”
Shane wasn’t sure how to respond. His first thought was just to say ‘no’ outright, but he knew that would result in making Hayden mad at him. “How about Ilya and I check our schedules and try to come out to babysit next week? We have a few nights next week where we will be in Ottawa before we leave on the road for 4 games.”
Or Shane Hollander finally realizes Hayden is not a great friend.

It turns out that forced proximity is a lot harder when your boyfriend is Ilya Rozanov and he’s being an ass just to keep the act up—and because the bed is little too cold and little too big for Shane to sleep alone.

This was soooo good i love fics where everyone is mostly supportive but thats just not realistic for the 40s and this was amazing and made me cry. The end was so bitter sweet
