It works for roughly ten minutes before Shōta shifts his weight. The way he tips just a bit to his right, added to the way the man beside him also shifts to sit back just a bit in his chair instead of hunching forward, means that Shōta can actually hear what his neighbor is saying.
“Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be beaten with coin-filled socks.”
This bit of muttering, far clearer than before, instantly has Shōta’s attention locking in, freezing him in place for a split second before he slowly turns his head to look at his neighbor.

Fetch a cover. Armand felt almost shaky imagining it; draping a blanket over Daniel only for him to wake up and catch him in the act, having ‘Rashid’ leaning over him with his shirt unbuttoned tantalisingly low. What would he say to that? Mr Du Lac asked me to tuck you into bed?

Louis had told Armand not to touch him before he left, but would that have any sort of meaning now? The whole Maitre thing was definitely over. There was nothing stopping Armand from coming in here to kill Daniel, because he couldn’t leave. Rest in peace, Daniel Molloy. Died because he provoked an ancient vampire and then couldn’t keep track of his stuff when it actually mattered.
Couldn’t Armand just stay in the hole he’d made in the wall? It would be so much easier for Daniel if he just stayed in the hole in the wall.
