Summary
Flins takes a far different action in his second confrontation with Rerir, deigning to smother that shard in his own heatless flame. And Rerir cannot do anything about it, for his soul and willpower have always been strong, but the heart… oh, the heart was his singular, sole weakness. To have his heart held in the hands of one who was his enemy was worse than being ripped up and thrown into the clutches of time.
The heart has always been a fickle, immaterial thing. Perhaps stealing Rerir’s heart wasn’t enough, the stone a cold presence in his lantern. Perhaps, in order to win, Flins needed to consume it entirely, lest Nasha Town and Nod Krai fall into disaster.
