Hawks was lying on the floor of his living room with a puddle of his own drool when he had been playing with his hair and accidentally pulled out some of his hair and stray baby feathers. Deliriously, Hawks muttered, “Pull out your crest feathers, Hawks. Heroes don’t have those. Why am I not allowed to have my own hair? Why can't I have my crest?”
“MUST I BE BALD?!” He sat up violently, only to topple back down.

The only answer Damian got was an amused grin. “Tt very well. I would like to gather some intel from you about a tradition about passing on the cape among Robins.”
“Aww I’m flattered you asked. I can’t really say much though because it varies between each Robin. Like how train hopping was Jason’s and my thing and how… being public menaces is Tim’s and Jason’s.” Dick grimaced at the last one.
It was easy to see the gears turning in the younger’s head as he hummed thoughtfully. “I see. So the only requirement for the mantle passing experience is to create an exclusive bond with one another.”
AKA the sequel to where Damian tries to bond with Tim solely to get Robin but ends up with something else instead.

Tim let out a terribly muffled scream as he was thrown back onto the floor, rattling his broken bones. With tears streaming down his face, Tim tried to crawl away from the Red Hood, his hero, his Robin.
“What’s the matter, Replacement? I thought you wanted to be Robin,” the dead boy snarled, stalking forward with Tim’s bloody staff in hand.
He tensed, bracing for impact, as Hood raised the staff to hit him away when they both froze at a noise. Two soulless black eyes stared at them. “Honk.”

Summary
No, Bucky Barnes is not fucking good.
He’s back to dealing with stupid gigs he didn’t choose with stupid hidden agendas and lives on the line. He’s trying to be a leader, but he’s right back to feeling unstable, and to tie it all off with a fucking bow Sam kisses him again and it feels like he’s regressed three years. Back to bad decisions, bad dreams, out of control and out of his hands. Back to barely breathing.
So, you can forgive him if his judgment is a little off.
Or; A governmental facility goes dark in Northern Virginia. The New Avengers receive their first mission; Sam Wilson follows.

Breaking: The City That Sometimes Sleeps? New York Wakes to New Avengers – Is This The Future Of Superheroes?
Bucky Barnes is used to not having a choice.
Rather, he’s learnt not to bother – history has proven that the universe doesn’t really care what he wants (a full congressional term; a break from the fighting; some peace and fucking quiet). So, when his political career gets cut abruptly short against his will, Bucky thinks this might as well happen and bends the knee. Perhaps it’s self preservation; If he doesn’t go after what he really wants, the universe won’t get the chance to ruin it for him.
Maybe that’s why he hasn’t called Sam Wilson.
Or; The New Avengers learn what it’s like to not be alone. Bucky Barnes learns what it’s like to have five people up in your business.

Summary
A couple months after the Flag Smashers mission, Bucky's now answering Sam's calls and texts (fostering relationships, Doc!). One call, in particular, finds Bucky returning to Delacroix for what's possibly his most daunting mission yet: helping Sam fix up a run-down, piece-of-shit foreclosure he recently purchased. Bucky doesn't know the first thing about real estate or confronting his feelings but he does know how to move heavy things, so...that's something.
