Marinette only agreed to work at WE because Jagged and Penny insisted that it would be okay. They reassured her that they had scouted the company out just as thoroughly as she had taught them to, and so there shouldn't be any problems.
And there wasn't! At least...
Not until her Boss and his family decided to keep hovering over her 24/7, with one son acting like an overprotective brother, and another son constantly showing up and clinging to her(he had no right to have such a pretty face!!!).

Summary
Look; Bruce liked Marinette. If the girl hadn’t already had loving and adoring parents that had spotless records and nothing incriminating about them whatsoever(Bruce had checked long and hard), he probably would have adopted the girl just like he had the others. However, that was a custody battle that would be even more difficult then the one he tried and failed to win to gain custody of Barbara(Jim had laughed at the situation the whole time). He found Marinette to be quite a charming young girl that he, as well as his children, all enjoyed speaking with.
However, things wouldn't remain this perfect if Damian continued to try and mess it up by SCARING the poor girl!
