Summary
In the throes of World War II, when the Howling Commandos are searching for any information on Johann Schmidt without success, they find Erik Lehnsherr in a Hydra facility and bring him back to base. A surprising bond begins to form between the young mutant and recently-freed Bucky Barnes as they fight to end the war, only to find that the war doesn't end when the world believes.
Separated for a time, they reunite when Bucky's mind is near-broken and Erik's heart is hardened by his time alone. Can they reconnect and still bring down the forces that linger in their dark nightmares? Can the course of mutantkind change when one of their biggest names had a history not like the one we know? Can the men broken by war and science gone wrong find peace or are they doomed to fight?
