Only a minute ago, Harry had been dazed by the prospect of being exiled by the Dursleys and generously hosted at the Leaky on the Ministry’s dime. But now Snape had somehow commandeered Harry’s peaceful fortnight. Had Dumbledore sent him? Why now, when Harry was happy and almost home, and not last year, after Dobby, when the Dursleys had locked him in his room for weeks?
He wasn’t going back.
“Do not think of making a scene, Potter.”
“I’m not— I mean, I will, sir. I’ll do as you say, but please. I can’t go back.”
Don’t get him wrong, Snape could likely be five times nastier than the Dursleys. He had a wand, he despised Harry on an ancestral level and he was Slytherin-clever. But there was only one of him to manage.
