We’d go through the same fight night after night - ‘if Sue and Reed can do it, so can we!’ Which is such an impossible standard to set because Johnny and I don’t have the Baxter building, or like…”
Peter turns and finds both Miles and Gwen draped atop one another like sleeping kittens. Miles’ foot is wedged under Peter’s thigh, his other leg rested between the two seats in front of them. Gwen had her head on Miles’ stomach, the rest of her body hanging like a limp bridge between the bus’ aisle.
“Alright, good talk.” Peter grumbles to himself.

Pretty decent set-up, right? Has all the makings of the kind of gut-splitter your druncle climbs onto the band’s stage and tells halfway through your sister’s wedding reception, effectively offending your great-grandparents so bad that they up and leave.
In this case—and what an unfortunate case it is—the humor starts and ends in the set-up.
