"Ready?" Eddie asks.
"Yep." Buck draws one knee up against his chest, always in the habit of sitting like a store mannequin that recently survived an earthquake. He seems to have just remembered that this movie is of the spooky variety, because he visibly steels himself before saying, "Let's do this."
Eddie hits play. Then he waits a perfectly respectable less than a minute before—very nonchalantly, he's just an average guy with limbs; he barely thinks about having arms, even places them down sometimes, it's whatever—re-draping his forearm across the back of the couch.
He bites down on a greedy smile when Buck copies the movement shortly thereafter.
Equally nonchalant, of course—all very normal. Eddie doesn't even feel like screaming into a throw pillow, on account of how normal this all is.
Or: Buck and Eddie's pinky fingers kiss before they do.

"Theo called me old today," Buck grouses from Eddie's right. The sound of the toilet flushing follows, then the soft rustle of fabric.
Eddie keeps his eyes pointed forward, concentrating harder than strictly necessary on squeezing his toothpaste in a straight line across the bristles. "He's four," he reminds Buck, flicking the tap on to run his toothbrush beneath the stream, "I bet he'd call Chris old too."
Buck groans, bumping his hip into Eddie's to get him to budge over as he sidles up to the sink. He pumps the soap twice, a touch aggressively, Eddie notes, and starts to scrub. "He's right though," Buck laments, "I am old." One sudsy hand flails up, gesturing wildly towards his head. "I've got grey hair, Eddie."
Or, Buck's going grey and Eddie's going gay.

“You’re not wearing a shirt.” He sounds almost desperate.
“Neither are you,” Eddie points out.
Beyond reasonable, really, he thinks, though reason doesn’t seem to be standing in this kitchen with them. Reason has run off on an all expenses paid vacation package somewhere far, far away. A land where people keep their clothes on, probably.
Eddie dreams of such a place.
Or: Eddie winds up in a one-man wet T-shirt contest. Buck... spectates.

“How come you’re still awake?” Buck asks, antsy. He pulls at a loose thread inside one pocket with pinched fingers, rapidly picking apart the stitching. Better to unravel that than eight years of friendship all because said friend’s shorts have ridden up agonizingly at the thigh.
“I was waiting for you to get back. You’re kind of early, though.” Eddie’s eyes are tracked to the TV, but they dart over at Buck when he asks, “You strike out with Dixie?”
Which… Buck doesn’t even know where to start. He desperately needs to buy a vowel.
“Huh? Why—what—did I miss a text?”
Eddie, sat cross-legged on top of pearly-white cotton sheets, a vision so soft it’s making Buck dizzy, has the audacity to look puzzled. “Not from me. Why?”

Buck looks up from his phone, his smile immediate and radiant. “Uh, hey! Morning, Chim. How’s it goin’?”
Chim pointedly glances at Eddie, then swivels back. Buck’s eyes remain fixed on Chim, smile unwavering and very determined in his pretense that the crossword enthusiast opposite them doesn’t exist.

She didn’t know if Jamie actually spoke with Ted, but Ted never mentioned seeing him, and Jamie never showed up at Nelson Road. She tried to ring him once to find out if he was okay. It rang and rang and eventually went to voicemail. She left him a message that was never returned.
