Summary
Actually, come to think of it, it was almost 7am and no one had bothered him. Maybe Vax’s day would be low key. He could stare at the ceiling listlessly for a few more hours, maybe have a family lunch and then just be. This birthday would go better than his last one, he was sure of it. He would be normal. He just needed a few more hours to plan out what he would say. Conversations were so much easier when there was a script to follow.
Bright light flooded the room as Val kicked open the door. “It’s Vax day!”
Or not.
Val was across the room in mere seconds, scooping up Vax in his many arms in a too-tight hug. “My little bundle of joy. To think I birthed you almost two decades ago! Aw, you look just like your father with his big dumbass flat head. I think I’m going to cry!”
Alright, so his day was starting.
It's Vax's 16th birthday, and everything is just fine!

Max and Bradley have a system going. Someone throws a party, they show up, desecrate a couch, then go their separate ways. It's easy and casual, just how Max likes it.
However, when midterms rolls around and nobody is throwing any parties, Max finds himself feeling a little bit lost. He misses the music, the booze, and Bradley. His friends, tired of his moping, decide to throw their own party.
Like clockwork, Bradley shows up.
