"It's not." He was bluntly honest, and it made Belle fearful of what was to come for herself. "But it's getting easier. He's not in my face, not like last time, I've hardly had to speak to him since he's been back- and I know if anything happens I've got someone I can go to."
"Aaron?" Belle asked, as if she even had to.
"Aaron." Robert seemed almost giddy that he could say it.

"I see she found ya, then." Aaron's voice. His Aaron. Here.
Robert suddenly came back to the present, bottle resting on his thigh again as he stared wide eyed at the figure. Aaron indeed- clad in his signature black coat layered over a hoodie.
"What?" He breathed out, confused and caught extremely off guard. Here Aaron was, looking annoyingly good for the middle of the night, meanwhile Robert's hair was askew from the tossing and turning he'd not long been dragged awake from.
"Ruby." He nodded to the bottle of wine Robert was clutching on to, like it was some sort of life line.
"Oh." Robert mumbled.
or: Aaron and Robert slowly piece together after the gorge incident with John, who is now on the run and making his way out of their minds. Until he isn't.
My attempt at whumptober except ive taken a handful of the days and merged them all together and added a bit of an upbeat, fluffy start bc I can't do sole angst. Whumptober days listed in the notes if you want more details :)

Aaron Dingle knew he wasn't a weak man. He had come over an abundance of emotional wreckage over the years, learned how to cope with them properly, how to accept them. He was also pretty prideful about his physical strength too- had never been one to let a threat of physical violence overpower him, always returned the threat 2x stronger.
But, he had found out he did have one intimidatingly strong weakness; his kryptonite if you will. After all these years he had almost forgotten how significant the pull of his devotion to Robert was, but it had come back now- full throttle- and was crumbling down the tough, brooding walls he had built up to perfection.
And he wasn't even that mad about it.
