Blimey.
Kristen’s blood runs cold. She can feel Gorgug squeezing her hand. Maybe she’s squeezing his. Her fingers are numb.
“You really don’t remember?” Tracker asks. The confused hurt on her face is enough to break Kristen out of her frozen stupor.
“No,” Kristen lets out an anxious laugh, “I don’t remember because that wasn’t me.”

Fabian's not sure what he’s expecting. Mild interest, maybe? A quick look up and down? He tries not to be vain these days, but he knows what he looks like, and he wouldn’t mind the attention from the handsome man in front of him.
He is not expecting recognition to flash across the man’s face.

She nearly jumps out of her skin as someone raps on the glass, but of course it’s only Tracker.
Her ex-wife is standing outside of her car door, brow raised with a look that Kristen knows is meant to mean I am not amused.

Summary
To be chosen was to be different. Odd. Secrets whispered between bunks are careful not to reach her ears, giggling excuses that they didn't want to tell her, cuz she would tell God. She doesn’t know how to explain that that isn't how it works, doesn’t know how to convince them she is just the same as them without denying the counselors around her who coo and praise, alienating her further.
So, in the last light of the day, as the other girls shower and get their hair braided, screaming and giggling along to the mp3 the counselors had hooked up to a speaker, Kristen sits on the cabin's back porch, alone.

Summary
Neil swallows back blood. “Andrew.”
“Abram,” Andrew returns.
“I’m losing my mind. I think I’m losing my mind.”
“You aren’t,” Andrew says, so easy, so certain. “You’re tired. You’re scared. That’s it.”
Neil grits his teeth. “I’m,” he exhales shakily. “I’m – seeing things,” he admits.
—
In which Andrew gets into a car accident one week into the off-season, and everything is fine right up until he starts dying every night in Neil’s dreams. Things get worse, and then they get better.
—
Or, how trauma and triggers persist even after decades of safety, and how Andrew and Neil navigate them and take care of each other throughout it all.

Summary
There it is again. Cody feels his whole body tense, and Pete’s too this time, just as Ricky opens his mouth to speak. All of them freeze, waiting, and then suddenly Pete shoves himself back into Cody’s arms and it dissipates again.
“…shit,” Pete whispers, starting to tremble. Cody shifts his grip from restrictive to gentle, pulling Pete in for a hug instead. “Shit, Kingston, I’m so sorry—”
“You best not raise your voice at me like that again,” Kingston says. Even Cody can hear the thinly veiled anger, but he pushes it aside. “What’s going on, Pete? What was that?”
“He was gonna surge,” Cody says quickly.

Summary
There was light behind his eyelids, and the faint murmuring of voices from somewhere far away. Warm air brushed over his bangs, and something wet was pressing against his cheek. It was smooth, and soft, and as the faint smell of lavender hit his nose Riz realized with a jolt of horror that the thing pressed up against his face was Kristen’s bare chest, and that it was wet because he had completely covered it in drool.
