Amid bloodshed, political intrigue, and the weight of their ideals, Kenshin struggles with the ghosts of every life he has taken:
Blind to the fact that Katsura sees him not as a weapon, but as someone worth saving. In a world where duty demands sacrifice, and love is a risk neither can afford, the question remains:

Summary
“Blast it all, get out!” Gale shouted.
Astarion’s eyes gleamed and he rose to his feet.
“Oh, no. No, I don’t think I shall,” he said. His smile widened to show his fangs, and his eyes glittered darkly. “In fact, if I leave this room before I take my own bath, then the first thing I am going to do is tell everyone you have a secret magic bathroom with a proper latrine and hot running water.”
Or: Five times Gale was denied access to his Transitory Pocket Washroom, and one time he wasn't.

Summary
After a trade deal goes bad, the group find themselves in the throes of an ambush in a nest of angry Zhentarim. Astarion, singled out and outnumbered, has to fight to protect not just himself, but the injured wizard as well.
---
He fired a shot at the Zhentarim the moment he saw the sneaky devil dart behind a particularly large stalagmite. The bolt just skittered off his calf. Astarion slammed back down behind cover grumpily, turning his ire instead to the wizard. “So, what are you doing here instead of helping the rest of us?”
Gale glowered at Astarion before he resigned to sitting up taller to just barely peek out from over the crates. He answered the elf, dryly. “Oh, you know how it is, Astarion. I found out there was an outcropping of Zhentarim in the bowels of Waulkeen’s Rest and heard that the web of illegal merchandise and human trafficking was particularly lovely this time of year.”

Summary
"There's a ritual, you see. Not the kind you're thinking, don't worry. But it does require the, ah, blood of a mage to complete."
Gale's stomach twists painfully. "Oh. I see. Well, It’s not like I wasn’t prepared to sacrifice myself once, right? For you, Astarion, anything."
Astarion turns slowly to face him, blanket still hitched up to his chin. “You think… you think I want to sacrifice you?”
Astarion figures out a way to walk in the sun again, and heads to Waterdeep to enlist Gale's help. They, obviously, fall in love along the way.
