Summary
Do you want to have a nifty way to have multiple languages in a fic:
- Without making your readers scroll to the AN for a translation?
- Without the text and translation sitting side by side?
- And still make it look pretty when people download it into an EPUB or PDF format?
- Making it work with screenreaders? (Subject to varying screenreader capabilities)
Here is a solution for you. Come on babygirls, let's roll.
(This is a HTML tutorial but I'm lowkey flirting with you by calling you babygirl occasionally because I got bored while writing this.)
NEW UPDATE [20/3/2026]:
- Chapter 1: Sample Usage (Excerpt from a WIP in my drafts)
- A short character study about Griffin Harley from Babel (by R.F. Kuang). Utilizies 3 languages in multiple formats. You don't need to have read Babel to pick apart the code used.
- Chapter 2: Basic Tutorial (same as before)
- Chapter 3: FAQ (regarding customization and usage)

Ilya Rozanov wakes up from a medically induced coma, sixteen months into a mission to save the dying sun, and he can't remember a single one of his crewmates.
He's immediately drawn to one of them, though. Too bad Hollander won't give him the time of day.

it's all fun and games by thegreenempty
Fandom Game Changers Series - Rachel Reid, Heated Rivalry (TV)
15 May 2026
Summary
A mostly crackfic series that asks, what if Shane and Ilya were slightly out of character? Shane is bitchier, Ilya is manic and philosophical, Cliff Marleau and the Boston boys take turns babysitting their crashing-out captain, and Shane finally gets recognized as the pretty, funny, sassy player he is.
Nothing is too serious about this, it's a mix of show and book canon, and a healthy dose of fanon (himbo king Cliff). Ilya is allowed to catch feelings early, as a treat and Shane is allowed to let his inner mean girl out.
Please enjoy these silly boys and their silly relationships! Four works so far with more to come! How much more? I don't know! They keep doing silly things and my brain keeps writing it down.
Thanks for reading! 💕

“I feel really good about this kid, I think he could be great on your wing, he just needs some help settling in. Someone to show him the ropes.”
“Yes.”
The line went silent for a moment. Ilya wasn’t really sure why his coach felt the need to run this by him.
“Rozanov,” his coach said at last. “I want him to live with you.”
Ilya blinked, then nearly shouted into the phone. “What?”

or, Ilya stays in Boston, gets a rookie, and tries to figure out how to make a secret long distance relationship work while there's a Russian teenager in his house

Shane wants to figure out if he's gay before he gets drafted—and no, the way he felt when Ilya Rozanov smirked at him with a cigarette between his lips in Saskatchewan has nothing to do with it. Unfortunately, the random guy he hooks up with to try and make sure one way or another takes a picture, and Shane gets outed before the draft. In the ensuing scandal, he goes seventh overall, to Ottawa.
It turns out, having the worst thing you can think of happen to you when you're seventeen years old can end up being pretty liberating. And land you an unexpected best friend.

imagine Heated Rivalry but with a slapdash of magical realism, ghosts, and the slowly dawning realization of just how much Shane and Ilya have to gain, if only they could figure their shit out. featuring: the most supportive team in the world (the Bears), the seething underbelly of malice (Montreal), and three tiny babies (boston's rookies), who just want to meet their stepmom.

“So, let me get this straight,” Dick said, frowning, “You stole a car, kidnapped Tim, got in a high-speed chase, stole another car, fought a bunch of cartel members, and blew up a chop shop...all to get a minivan back?”
“First of all, Timothy was a willing participant,” Jason said, crossing his arms, “And when you put it like that, it sounds bad.”
“Jason, it sounds bad no matter how I put it!”

“Just got the word from the officials, Metros are shutting Miitka down for the night," LeClaire says almost dispassionately. “Third period we’re up against,” LeClaire consults his clipboard, “Shane Hollander. Drafted 2009, current starter for the Laval Maples, posts a .905 save percentage.”
Ilya stays where he is, rolling the name around in his head once, without much interest.
Hollander.
Doesn’t ring a bell.
Inspired by that one twitter post, what if Shane was a goalie?

Summary
“Marley.” Ilya says evenly, suddenly knowing he can actually breathe. He had a plan and he knew what he needed to do. And he couldn’t do it from the locker room bench. “If he is very injured, if he cannot play again, if he is very bad, I will kill you. I will kill you painfully.”
Cliff gapes at him.In which the hit that Cliff Marleau had on Shane Hollander goes a little different. For one, they’re in Boston. For another, Ilya realizes he might be panicking? Which is probably not something to do in the middle of a game. And, oh yeah, he just outed both himself and his not-boyfriend to an entire locker room of hockey players.
But that’s okay, because while Boston may be vicious, they do take care of their own. And they quickly realize that their captain’s happiness and willingness to stay with the Bears is tied to Shane Hollander. The solution is easy, they’ll just have to make Shane Hollander a Bear.

Summary
What if after tuna melts, whispered names and the Rose of it all - in a post All Stars Game world - Shane thinks the world is finally starting to make sense again to him. Once the ground is firm under his feet - or so he thinks anyway - it's turns out to be less than stable? What if when Shane was getting his hook ups in Mexico and Hollywood - he wasn’t as unnoticed as he had originally thought?
When Montreal shows it’s true colors sooner, a No Trade Clause is waived and Boston gets an opportunity to build a dynasty that rivals the one of their largest rivals up North.
What if Shane and Ilya’s worlds are turned upside down and things with their over 8 year long situationship (now maybe relationship?) suddenly got more complicated and somehow simplified at the same time? Shane honestly thinks this is possibly the most ‘them’ resolution to a situation he has ever found. Ilya is just doing his best - he thinks. Maybe.
Also, the Power Play in Boston is about to be the thing of nightmares, if a certain Russian can stop blocking Shane's damn shot…
