Louis wants to aid in the budding conflict too, to ensure that humanity stays the reigning race of the world and that an apocalypse doesn't devour them whole, but Lestat wants, well, simply...to love.

    It feels like rejection.

    “Why not?” He tilts his head. The dark shadows that he is desperately trying to convince himself he does not see, that do not exist, grow closer and closer. “Do you want me to put more in it?”

    “No.” Is all Louis says. “I ain’t brought you here to drink from you, Lestat.”

    Rejection, and a knife wound across his throat, cutting through bone and tissue, his vocal cords. Sharp, inhuman teeth in his shoulder, and the screams of a long-dead lover in his ears.

    Louis is supposed to take these feelings away. He could, if he wanted to.
