Summary
The next morning, Shane flies out to L.A. and lets himself be photographed having lunch with Rose Landry. This is being careful, he reasons. This is granting himself plausible deniability in case anyone ever sees that photo. This is helping save Rose’s career. He can still have Ilya. Him and Rose just have to pretend well enough that no one thinks twice about Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. It’s just playing pretend, and if Shane was never very good at that as a child, well. That’s okay. He can learn.

Shane is trying to insulate himself against any chatter about him and Ilya. Rose's reputation needs laundering. The perfect solutions to their problems, are of course, each other. Stay together, get married, divorce once Shane's next contract is secured and Rose has a new agent. Easy.
