As the pilots are fighting the land the plane safely, Shane makes one call. Ilya has to call Shane's parents, and Rose, and navigate not knowing what happened to Shane, while remembering the confession he made in the last seconds of his call.

“It’s an apartment.” Shane replied abruptly, causing Ilya to raise an eyebrow in amusement. “I mean, uh, I’m sorry, do you live here?”
“Yes. I just moved in. Why?”
Shane shifted nervously on his feet, “I own it. The apartment, I mean.”
Ilya grinned. “Ah, I see. What brings you to my door, Mr. Landlord?”

Shane and Ilya were never more than heated rivals in the NHL. In 2017, Ilya suffered a career-ending injury, and two years later, he moved to Montreal for a coaching job. He unknowingly rents out Shane’s apartment, and the heat of their former rivalry transforms into love as they discover new parts of each other.

Summary
It's a regular game day in Ottawa and the Centaurs head out to face the Nashville Symphony. Ilya is already worried that Shane's ribs are giving him trouble, but when Shane goes down after a hard hit worry becomes dread, and Ilya can't get to Shane fast enough.
This is my first ever fic so if it sucks I'm genuinely so sorry. Not using any AI DUHHHH so please forgive any typos or incorrect sentence structure I didn't major in creative writing!
