Summary
Outside was pristine winter cold: their little corner of the world flung far into the northern wilderness, pines and sloping hills as far as the eye could see. Philza knew this view like the back of his hand. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have spotted the grey dot on the horizon, coming down from the eastern roads. He watched it idly. Likely a long-distance hiker, although it wasn’t really dressed for visibility.
It wasn’t moving like a hiker, though. And it hadn’t been that long since they hit a convoy by the eastern roads.
It could have been a coincidence, of course. But Philza hadn’t survived this long believing in coincidences.
Philza and Technoblade got out, and Dream finds them right when he needs to.

The ghostly king laughed like a box of cutlery falling on a stone floor, and the exit sealed behind them. Techno looked over at Philza with the look of a man who knew what was about to come.
“I fucking told you so,” Philza enunciated primly.

“Let’s go!” Philza yelled over the wind, laughing as she took off down the slope towards the beach. Techno watched as she leapt once, twice, and just on the verge of stumbling fell into her transformation. She never got tired of watching it: Philza’s wings bloomed like they’d always been there, silvery grey against the dark green of her skirt and top, her rifle nestled between them like the spine of some ancient creature. Philza looked older than she was, in-uniform, like she’d seen it all, like she could carry the world on her shoulders. It was glorious and brilliant and Techno finally had to look away, gathering herself for her own transformation.
Being a magical girl is hard. Luckily, they're a team. Techno and her best friend could take on the world together.

It's a strange relationship they have found themselves in, with Tommy having found Dream sick and helpless in a cave not too long after the prison break. Despite all his inner turmoil and their history, Tommy could neither let Dream suffer, nor could he turn him in—not when he was delirious with fever and melted into Tommy's cautious touch.
