Driven by obsession, a former acquaintance of Dick Grayson’s hatches a plan to kidnap a man who has been spending an awful lot of time in Grayson’s company lately. Things don’t go to plan, and soon he has both of them chained up in a warehouse by the Gotham Harbour.

“Jason bristled, turning his face sharply away so his brother wouldn't see the hurt washing over his features. On some level, he knew he was being unfair. Of course Dick, who loved strangers as his own and grieved like he had a debt to pay-Dick, who had worked so hard to stop being the angry snot-nosed little brat that Bruce had taken under his cape, who had buried his vengeance in dependability and his rage in attentiveness only to still lash out like a chained dog whenever he was safe enough not to get kicked for it-of course he would want to see something more in that slippery little wastrel who'd gotten the jump on them. Of course he'd look at that snivelling filth and see a person, someone complete and breathing and desperate and afraid, with dreams and skeletons to hide and people to cherish. It was the one thing that Jason couldn't forget, even when he was mad at the guy: Dick was kind. He was so fucking kind— kind in a way that gets you hurt-and to some degree Jason was jealous, because he was pretty sure that he had been kind like that, at a time. He was pretty sure that he had been even kinder than Dick.”

Jason comes through the thinning line of constructs at a run, one gun still raised as he checks the alley and then the body at Roy’s feet.
“I could fucking kiss you,” he exclaims, as he slows to a stop. “That was insane!”
Roy hooks a hand into the front of his boyfriend’s armor and pulls him close enough that their heads nearly knock together.
“Save it for later,” he teases, pushing a flat palm against Jason’s chest to send him a few feet back.
